FAQs
I would like an extension but not sure what shape or style
Firstly think about how you can utilise the space, how the garden can adapt to take the extension, remember most extensions change the logistics of a house, new spaces mean new living options so whilst you are not only adding to the value of the property you are also increasing the options of the way that you live in the home.
How do you implement and comply to safety regulations?
Each project we undertake is individual so a fully inclusive project pack is compiled to each build. For peace of mind all of our operatives and staff are trained under the construction skills certification scheme. A method statement is drawn up to give them an understanding of each scope of works and risk assessments are drafted for any potential dangers.
How do I discuss my project and get a quote?
Whilst we are happy to discuss any projects you would like to undertake. It is very hard for us to prepare a price without any drawings. Whilst most instances the customer has a clear picture in their mind of their requirements it can often get lost in translation. A site survey and architect drawing will eliminate this and ensure that everyone is working to the same vision, it will also give our team a clear understanding of your needs and requirements and enable us to provide an accurate quote for the project.
When will you be able to start any potential works?
Of course this is completely dependent on the scope and magnitude of work involved. We pride ourselves in being honest from the outset. It does not make business sense to make broken promises in order to secure work, we concentrate on finishing previous works first before committing to starting another, we understand as a paying client that there is nothing more irritating than work starting in your home and only seeing your builders in three-day intervals.
Can you recommend anyone for plans and legislation?
We have close working relationships with numerous qualified Architects and Designers as well as a vast internal construction and legislation knowledge. Please visit our contact page and fill out an enquiry form explaining the type of construction project you are interested in and we will be able to offer advice or pass on details of a specialist expert or architect within this field, they will fully understand the complexities of your project, offer a wide breadth of knowledge, from technical requirements, to the planning
How long will my project take?
We are used to working within scheduled timeframes once the scope of works has been discussed. We then look into planning the build, obviously certain circumstances reflect in each build e.g.: is the customer living in the home, is the build to be done in phases, what is the access like. The list goes on, once these have been discussed we can come up with a realistic timeframe for our clients and their project.
Is your company familiar with CDM REGULATIONS?
The Garden Room team are of course familiar and fully compliant with the Construction Design and Management regulations, but please don’t worry, as a principal contractor this is something we deal with on a day to day basis. We have all the required paperwork and certification that covers all legislation associated with CDM.
